Hi all. I hear with windows xp you do not have to create rescue disks with your virus program. What are your oppinions on this, and is it necessary?

See, I go on vacation and look at all of these wonderful posts! Neet!!! Troy, I can only offer my opinion as someone who has been working as an adaptive tech instructor and tech support fello for over 13 years. I have never created rescue disks in regards to virus programs and this has never bitten me yet(nock on wood it probably will now). Unfortunately, I carried this practice over to not creating Windows startup disks and this took a rather large byte out of my pride and also made me think twice in thinking i new it all. I restarted a machine that I reinstalled Windows on and got an error I couldn't repair. So, I would simply say use your discression. If your comfortable with troubleshooting and know how to get in to the machine should it not boot correctly your okay but if you want to be safe it probably wouldn't hurt to take the extra 5 minutes and build a rescue set or a startup disk.
